Shinsaibashi, Osaka, Japan. January 27, 2008. 18:00~20:00 (6pm-8pm). Yesterday was definitely the best day of my life. It was the best day because I GOT TO SEE M.O.V.E LIVE IN CONCERT AND IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING! There was a small amount of sucktitude in that Security wouldn't let me meet the band. ; . ; He did take the letter I wrote, though. Hopefully Japanese concert roadies aren't jerks like American ones, and it'll actually get to them. God. The song set, to the best of my recollection (they definitely sang all of these songs, but I'm not positive I've got the order right): 01. Platinum I couldn't understand much of what they were saying between songs (my listening comprehension blows). But what I did pick up was pretty hilarious: -Motsu had a pink mohawk. Yuri said, "Yesterday in Nagoya it was green. I wonder what color it'll be in Tokyo tomorrow..." and Motsu said, "That's a secret." -The were making jokes about how natives of Osaka are rumored to be very "oshaberi" (over-talkative). Someone in the crowd hollered, "Make T-Kimura talk!" because apparently he's notorious for being quiet. Motsu handed T-Kimura the mic and he went, "Eh?" -From "Disco Time" onward, there was an ongoing joke of some sort revolving around the fact that they were trying to give the concert a "disco-like feeling" even though they were performing in a modern nightclub. -At one point, Yuri said that Motsu was her "sempai" (lit. senior member of her group) even though he's "eternally 18 years old". Then Motsu said, "How old is Yuri-chan? Twenty-something, right?" and she got all embarrassed and said, "We're not talking about that!" -They had a contest where Yuri stood on the far left of the stage, and Motsu stood on the far right, and they said, "Which team can cheer louder, the Yuri team or the Motsu team?" and some guy shouted, "Motsu's the best!" from Motsu's side, and then someone from Yuri's side shouted, "Motsu, you should come over here!" and Yuri was like, "What?! You want to switch teams?!" and the rest of us boo'd the guy. And then they had us cheer (I was on Yuri's side), and Yuri's side won by a landslide. XD And then the guy from Motsu's side hollered, "Motsu, you're still the best!" -There was a lot of bantering between Motsu and Yuri during which they tried to speak Osaka dialect and kept correcting each other and then getting corrected by members of the crowd. -They announced that they'll be back in Osaka in February for some car show (a concert featuring them and a bunch of other artists) -We were all given a survey when we entered the club; Motsu said that if we filled it out, we'd get a "present" on the way out - a free CD-R with an exclusive 90-second clip of a song they started back in 2004 but never released. It's called "soukyuu no flight", and I had to fake the survey to get it. I couldn't read it (too much kanji) so I just wrote stuff like, "Move's the best band in the world" and "I'm from America and I can't read kanji". They didn't check it when I handed it in, so I got the CD anyway. >D -At the end of "Dogfight" after the part that goes, "Let me hear you say 'yeah'!", Motsu started a chanting game with the audience that included: "Let me hear you say 'M-O-V-E!'" and then "Now, 'We love m.o.v.e!'" Which we do, so it was wonderful. -During "How To See You Again" Motsu kept running back and forth around the stage while singing the chorus. -During "Blazin' Beat" he crowd-surfed. I wasn't close enough to be involved, though. *sad* -This was actually a pretty serious and emotional moment: They were getting ready to sing "Key Ring", and Yuri was talking about how it felt to help Motsu write the lyrics. I had a hard time understanding it, but I think she said it was very difficult to put into words how it felt to be part of the creation process, and that she was really happy with how it turned out, and she hopes we like it, too. -I think at one point they were also talking about how they selected Yuri to be the vocalist (they talked a lot about "past" things because the theme of the tour is that it's been ten years since they started out). -Before the medley with "Around the World", "Rage Your Dream", and "Words of the Mind", Motsu hollered, "Let's go back to 1997!" -I just would like to note how surprised (in a good way) I was to hear them sing "Blue Jewel". I wasn't expecting it. I was, actually, expecting "Sunday Funday" (because it was Sunday at the time), but they didn't sing that one. XD I cried during the last encore. They sang "Gamble Rumble" and encouraged everyone to sing along, and so I was hollering it at the top of my lungs and simultaneously bawling my eyes out. It was just amazing. I've been waiting for that for six years. Worth every second. Other things that happened that day: -I got mistaken for a Japanese person by a woman at a bus stop. -I played the "stupid foreigner" card and managed to listen to m.o.v.e practicing for about 30 seconds before I got kicked out by the management and told to come back in two hours. -I found a really awesome Mexican restaurant in the shopping district of Shinsaibashi. -I did all of it on my own. -I met two really nice Japanese people (who I unfortunately will probably never see again; we were standing in line at the concert but then got separated once we went inside) who explained a bunch of stuff to me about the concert in February (that's supposedly at Tempozan Park; will have to see about that, since it's really close by) and about how they wish they could follow m.o.v.e to Tokyo but they have school. I know how that goes... That's the reason I missed them when they went to Virginia back in the States. Fucking midterms. But yes. I must see them again. Oh tell me how to see you again... Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaah~! *so happy*in love*
