Go back one for ecstatic ramblings about concerts and so forth. Okay, so Shelly's talk of not wanting to return to the States got me thinking. The only thing that really bugs me so far about Japan is just that Japanese food, while generally delicious, doesn't keep me full for more than two hours. Like, I'll eat a huge meal and be hungry again two hours later despite having stuffed myself. It leads to one of two things happening: Other than that, I don't really have any complaints. I'm homesick, but only for friends, family, and food, not so much the environment. It's wicked clean here, so it's going to be disgusting when I go back to UMass... There's also a strange lack of wildlife here. No squirrels, no chipmunks, no frogs, bunnies, birds (other than these tiny high-pitched ones that come out at sunset, and these huge vicious black crows)... it's just people and buildings everywhere. XD; It's really cool, though, to be walking around this highly modern developed city and see a temple or shrine hidden away behind a couple of trees, or that kind of thing. My dormitory is actually next to a graveyard... haha. You can see the smoke from the crematorium out the laundry-room window...? >.>; I haven't had culture shock. It's truly strange, but it's true. I'm just kind of like, "This is how it is, and so I deal with it." Holy crap, I need to go to class. XD;
